Rising sea levels make many of our transportation facilities vulnerable.   In the SF Bay Area, parts of US-101 near SFO, Route 237, and I-880 are close enough to sea level to be of concern.  The Port of Oakland is an international port, crucial to the economic vitality of a fairly large swath of the country, is also vulnerable.  Now with grant funding from the Rockefeller Foundation, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission has launched a creative thinking/design competition to help our infrastructure survive and continue to serve the population.   See http://mtc.ca.gov/whats-happening/news/special-features/what-theyre-saying for more information.
